Happiness Level Three – Looking for the Good News
It’s natural and good to love those who love us and to be drawn to those whom, for whatever reason, we enjoy. Like is attracted to like. We have a harder time relating to those who are unlike us, or who irritate or intimidate us. In these cases we can choose, with God’s grace, to get out of our comfort zone, and reach out, even in a small way, with love or interest. This is a choice which is pleasing to God, makes us more like Him, and ultimately increases the happiness quotient in the world.
But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
– Matthew 5: 44-45
